I remember reading Stephen King's Salem's Lot and Robert R. McCammon They Thirst a couple of decades ago. At the time, vampire-related books were not that common, and these two books packed a punch. Nowadays, there's vampire romances, young adult books, fantasies and mysteries . . to name a few. Of course, there's the Twilight books and movies - which I find to be lame beyond belief. True Blood is awesome - but I am also quite enjoy The Vampire Diaries. Nina Dobrev stars as Elena, a high school student who falls in love with a brooding, teenage, daywalking, high school vampire. Sounds a bit like Twilight, but The Vampire Diaries novels actually were on bookshelves long before Twilight. One other thing I should mention . . . Nina Dobrev is hot, and Kristen Stewart . . . not so much.
